HUNSTANTON & DISTRICT FESTIVAL OF ARTS
ONE-ACT DRAMA FESTIVAL 2017

  • Performances will take place at 7.30pm each evening and there will also be matinees on Saturday, 8th and Sunday 9th July at 2.30pm

  • The popular Hunstanton One-Act Drama Festival will take place once again this year from Friday 7th – Sunday, 9th July at the Princess Theatre. Performances will take place at 7.30pm each evening and there will also be matinees on Saturday, 8th and Sunday 9th July at 2.30pm. Each performance will consist of different adult and youth Drama Groups from throughout the District performing one-act plays of their choice. Each session will usually include two or three different plays while the last evening, ‘Oscars Night’, will include special entertainment and the presentation of awards for both the Drama and Dance Festivals.
    After each session, the adjudicators will talk briefly about each play and how well each team achieved their objectives. Full written adjudications will be issued to each Group after the event.
    The event is also a competition and trophies will be awarded within different categories including Best Original Script, Best Play and Best Actor/Actress at the end of the Sunday performance. These will be presented by the Mayor of Hunstanton.
    Entries are still being received and the deadline for these will be the end of April 2017. Entrants may submit a published or an original One-Act play or, alternatively one scene from a full length play. If you are interested in submitting an entry please contact michael@thecleeve.freeserve.co.uk to obtain forms and full details of the rules and regulations.
    Senior Adjudicator, Michael G Williamson said that he was delighted that the Festival had continued to grow in numbers and significance over the years and was now regarded as one of the best in Norfolk. It was always good to see groups returning to Hunstanton and to note their progress and development. Each performance provides something different and can cater for all tastes.

MURDER ON THE TERRACE

  • The scene is set: a respectable garden party to celebrate Lord Cava’s retirement and the handing over of his sparkling wine empire to his nephew, Charles. It is no secret that Charles intends to shut down the business and convert Lord Cava’s Manor (The Cavary) into a conference centre. Unsurprisingly, Charles is later found dead, poisoned, clutching Hercule – Lord Cava’s beloved pet parrot. The garden party is thrown into disarray, the sardonic Inspector Back arrives to investigate and the twists and turns of a whodunit both puzzle and entertain alongside dangerous amounts of humour. Can you solve the mystery?
    This original murder-mystery by David Kerby-Kendall will be an interactive play with references to Downton, Agatha Christie, part romp, part farce and a whole lot of fun. Come along and figure out if you can decipher ‘whodunit’?! Running time 2.5 hours inclusive of a 20 minute interval
    Suitable for 12+.
    Please bring picnics, rugs and low back chairs. (Indoors if Wet).
